Whoever first decided to put pumpkin and chocolate together, was a genius. A few Sundays ago we also made a pumpkin coffee cake from the same recipe book as the ginger pumpkin scones I blogged about earlier. I noticed in the book that apparently pumpkin and chocolate can go together as noted in other recipes… and well we had some chocolate chips on hand and decided to toss them into our coffee cake.
My first bite of this coffee cake did not contain any chocolate and I was promptly informed by my friend that the chocolate tasted really good in the cake. So I found a piece of chocolate and oh does the sweetness of the milk chocolate with the dense pumpkin coffee cake go together wonderfully. So I took the time when I got home later that evening to melt some chocolate to drizzle over a whole piece! It looks great and who doesn’t love a little bit more chocolate.
