If you’re ever at a farmer’s market that sells natural nut butter, I suggest you give it a try. It’s great in peanut butter cookies and almond butter makes a great substitute for an even nuttier flavor.
Last weekend we stopped in at the South Bend, IN farmers market and picked up some peanut butter and almond butter for future cookies. The peanuts and almonds are ground right there as you fill up your tub.

I’m a huge fan of peanut butter. We buy giant tubs of the stuff that is 100% peanuts with no additives or preservatives. You have to stir it before spreading to keep it nice and smooth because the oil ends up on the top and you don’t want dry blocks of it at the bottom of the container. I do enjoy raw almonds a hell of a lot. I see a lot of organic brands of nut butters online but they look pretty expensive, so I am going to file away the notion to hunt through my local farmer’s markets in the near future and see if I can pick some other nut flavours up for a reasonable price 🙂
