The Gift of Cooking

For my birthday in November, I was given the gift of “Do Something”. My something happened to be a cooking class yesterday evening with my husband, Ben. We had a good time learning new skills and the food was delicious.

Plate of Chicken with gravy, arugula butternut squash salad, and cheesy risotto

In the class, we got to learn about dry brining chicken, which was prepared ahead of time for us. We also made a salad dressing for a butternut squash featured salad, I created a roux for a gravy, we switched off stirring as we made a cheesy risotto, and dessert was a delicious chocolate ganache and caramel tartlet!

It was a great time cooking with others and listening to the chef, and I may have been enjoying the sampling process a bit too much. You know checking if there was enough salt and pepper in the dishes… 😉

Just wanted to say thank you to my Mom and Dad for such a wonderful gift and that to say that I had a great time. Thank you!

Sweetly,

Gwenlynn
